Adapting models

Adapting models to reduce costs or improve effectiveness. A good example is the work of ASA (the Association for Social Advancement, or Asa meaning hope in Bengali) to develop an alternative to Grameen in microcredit in Bangladesh. ASA developed a very detailed guide to branch managers, focused on cost minimisation, simple paperwork, simple offices, and avoiding the requirement for groups of borrowers to guarantee the loans made to each member.
