Literature surveys and reviews

Literature surveys and reviews to bring together research evidence and identify promising new approaches, including models that can be borrowed from other fields. An outstanding recent example is New Zealand academic John Hattie’s work on schools, ‘Visible Learning’, which brings together 800 meta-analyses of what works, including many counterintuitive findings.

(See John Hattie, ‘Visible Learning: A synthesis of over 800 meta-analyses relating to achievement’, New York: Routledge, 2008.)
